View Full Version : Pro-touring side view mirrors

I've seen a number of pro-touring cars with "modern" side view mirrors... LED side marker, etc. Lexus and Honda have some nice door mounted units...

Anyone here add something they really like (or don't). It seems like a good idea to upgrade these tiny mirrors.

Thanks

Alan

I have a set of Gen 3 Viper mirrors that will be going on my build. Was able to get the switch and wiring as well.

Some stuff available here as well, one model includes LED side markers, http://www.visionhotrod.com/.

if you want cheap lightweight mirrors use motorcycle mirrors!

I measured mine and they are really close to the ones you posted.

I've been looking at just about every car on the road. You don't notice all the different styles until you pay attention.
Lexus has a number of door mounted (not corner mounted) mirrors with side markers that are nice. A few Honda mirrors might work too.
Will keep looking.

Has anyone put the new challenger side mirrors on their car? I was looking at some the other day and took some measurements but not sure if the angle would be right. But, it would be sweet to have some power side mirrors.

Mopar Action has a 1070 Cuda with 08 Challenger mirrors on it. They seem to be pointed down instead of flat. Like the angle is off and they are drooping.

look at Mazda Miata mirrors, they look pretty decent and should be able to be had cheap. I went through this same exercise and finally ended up with stock E body mirrors for my Cuda. I have a 10 Challenger and really looked at them because I had see the mirrors on that flamed Cuda in Mopar Action. however as noted here they are very big. I just ended up believing that anything other than the stock mirrors wouldnt look as good.

Those Miata mirrors are not bad at all... I finally identified the mirrors on the pro touring Cuda from the video link I posted. They're from a Civic...

I really can't see with the stock size mirror so I need to do something, especially for the right side... gigantic blind spot. Getting something with size and remote control is where I'm headed. I don't need a stock look... just a safe car I can drive anywhere.

I'm going to be running cameras flushed into the bodywork and LCD monitors in the dash.

I just bought one of these guys... cops, blind spots, ricers, annoying people riding your tail, etc... not a problem, he's got your back... just drive.

That sounds like a cool idea. Would love to see how you pull that off. Do you know what equipment you are going to use?

With California's laws as they are, I'd probably have to turn him around so he can blow my car off the road... damn eco-socialists...

I haven't decided on the cameras yet, but they will be small enough to fit inside the fender flares or I will use reflective prism ports. It will be quite awhile before I'm ready to mock up the cameras. The display screens will be flushed into the dashboard where the gauges usually go. The instruments will be projected onto the windshield with an aftermarket heads up display unit. The more detailed system readouts will be displayed on an iPad built into the console.

ETA: The rear view will be a bullet camera mounted where the trunk lock cylinder is normally.
