Yeah - we were going to make a short stand but then decided to make it a bit higher so working on everything is possible while sitting on a shop stool... it also still have enough room to crawl under the car to hook up the trans crossmember and other things. So it was a perfect height.

So here my fab stuff lately:

Aluminium fuel tank for B-Body, from 2mm, original width, original located custom stainless straps, 4" shorter (rear suspension needs room)

    P2170004.jpg

Baffles will be located at same line with straps so tank can be tighten correctly on it place.
With 2 long baffles ( w/ 3" & 1" dimple holes) and one trap door in the middle of them, 3 Bosch 044 pump inside. The access door will be made on top side of the tank and through trunk floor, so the pumps can be lifted to the trunk in needed. ( the black stuff on baffles is soap, it will be washed away.) I use it when I "heat soften" aluminium ( I dont know the right term in english) , when it gets brown, it's in right temperature and aluminium will be soft & easy to bend.

Baffles has 1/2" bend all around them, they will be easy to weld on and will be strong against breakage.

    P2170013.jpg

Next item in my to do list:

426 Hemi blower intake manifold for twin screw supercharger.

I started with new BDS roots intake,

    P1180080.jpg

milled 1" off the top, plus 1/4" for new top plate.

    P2240070.jpg

Made sturdy steel square tube structure so I can vice'd and/or bolted the intake down for welding.

I did plasma cut the floor off, 4" wide section at the center, will replace it with flat piece.

Have to make injector blugs, fuel rail hold downs and blower bypass tube fitting.

Weld them all on, check, maeby milled it straight, drill all the holes, threaded bolt holes, milled place for blower to bolt on... And last but not least, 8 rib drive system for the blower.

And if there would not be enough work,

I'm also replacing the roof skin to already show condition Charger.

Chancing the driprails, cutting half off from the width of them.

Has to do everything with caution and think twice.

Cant make any mistakes... Not easy to do.

I use cotton sheets against the paint and fire blanket over them on that side where I'm working on...

    P2200036.jpg

    more to come..

    Progress..

Tank has baffles welded in place, with trapdoor in the middle. It open and let gas go to pumps, but closes if gas tryes to go away from the pumps. Bottom edge needs to be trimmed. Washer is just for creating space so that it can move when things are welded. Iy will be removed.

    P2270019.jpg

I made an step bead that goes around to side plates. They'll go on next.

    P2270024.jpg

    Intake manifold had plasma"surgery"

    P2240076.jpg

Now it has 8mm/0.31" plate tag welded, needs to be welded all the way.
I dont have watercooled torch on my tig, its pain to weld this kind of high amp welds.
I already burned my torch once. Dont want do that again. Expensive stuff € € €...

    P2260007.jpg

Charger: Roof frame cleaned from the rust and got a coat of paint.

Next installing the new skin and fabricating new smaller drip rails.

    P2220057.jpg

    More to come...

    Progress has been made..

Roof is done, drip rails done need to do the lead work tomorrow.

    Kuva 053.jpg

Here you can see how much narrower they are now.

    Kuva 033.jpg

I did add flat stock on the edge to look like stock rail, and so we can install original mouldings.

Tank is welded, now fabricating pump bracket and intank fuel rails.

    75.jpg

I copied stock filling neck so using stock sealing rubber.

    Using Autometer sender unit.

    And best for last:

Intake was sitting on the engine first time today.. blower is coming forward alot, maeby have to strech manifold forward for it so we have room between throttle body and fire wall.

    Still have lot to do..

Going to get rid of distributor, replasing it with custom made cam sensor/oil pump rod.

    62.jpg

We are going to have made custom one off crank pulley, will be made from one piece of billet aluminium and anodised it. It house a 10rib pulley for blower belt and 3 normal V-belt pulleys for alternator and PS.

Waterpump will be run with blower belt.

I got heavy duty watercooled torch for my tig, but cant use it w/o water circulation and that cost over 1000€ so I'm going to build one...

Winter appears to be releasing it's grip around here, this week anyway. I caught a break from both the weather and the job today, so I went out this morning and worked on the stand a bit. Today I built the bracket assembly that will hold the control panel. It has about 12" of adjustment on it for a comfortable working height. I also made up a battery tray that hangs on the frame of the stand. Not much left to do now except mount the control panel itself, mount the gas tank, and wire up the stand. I have a few details to take care of on the engine itself, but were getting closer.

    Been quiet around here...

I thought that I need to clear one thing,

The Charger is not mine, I not have a speed shop (yet) I'm just doing stuff for a friend.

And later date to use these for a reference stuff for my up coming company.

So that been sayd, here is something progress...

    Roof's lead work is done

Tank is done, it's at painter now. It's going to be semi matte black w/ ss traps.

    P3150021.jpg

Pumps & fuel rails almost done.. have to weld ends on that collector tube.

    P3140014.jpg

Need to install suction filters, race foam and install it to car.

    Supercharger is getting forward.

Next welding plugs for injectors and fuel rails, fab a collector between blower and throttle body, then tb intake tube and airfilter.

Owner just ordered the snout from factory, it takes two weeks to fab it.

    P3250012.jpg

Here is our one-off pulley.. my desing, had it made by a specialist. Also been painted black.

    P3250043.jpg

small groove is for up coming vacuum pump.

We are getting rid of distriputor, chancing it to cam sensor, it will still be there turning oilpump but it will be under half of it original size.

    Thats all for now...

If you dont see this let me know.. I'll stop...

have any comments... : or or even ?
